The year has been a bright one for the chapter starting with a successful Founders Day luncheon and awards ceremony held. Dr. Wanda Witten Shurney gave a very educational presentation on Sickle Cell Anemia and what to do about it. She gave out a lot of information for attendees to review at their leisure.

The next bright spot was attending the Midwest Regional Conference were I was so honored to march with my fellow Marching Hornets.

Currently serving as the national president Erick Wright did a masterful presentation on how the Alumni Association will stay in contact with each other, recruit new students, and support current students.
We also want send a big shout out to our recent graduates of Alabama State University. Rashad Vann is working for a TV station in Nebraska. He and any other 2018 ASU graduate in the Detroit Area will have their membership fees waived for one year. If you attended ASU but did not graduate from ASU. You are eligible for an associate membership in the chapter. This is a direct invite for Daniel Campbell who has been an ally in the fight for working people as a member of the UAW. I was so honored to protest with him at an anti-racism rally in Detroit. The chapter wants to send a shout out to Ms. Flora Vann for her leadership as past President of the chapter and, a special shout out from me for the 2016 Hyundai Accent from Enterprise Car Rental. You cannot beat 40.0 miles per gallon on the highway!
